Keep Promise

 

 

Because he was getting older. King Ilyasa intended to step down. He made a quiz for all Bani Israil people.  

He had people to have at least three requirements to people him. Three requirements were always fast at day. Time worshiping diligently and prevented them from fury. 

There are many people wished to replace the king. But many of them can’t do the requirements from the king. 

 

Among them, there was a young participant. He was Basyar bin Ayyub a.s.

“Hey. Young man. Can you full fit all my requirements? “King asked.

“Insya Allah. I will do my best! “Basyar answered.

“I’ll wait for a couple of days to prove it.”

King Ilyasa won’t believe it easily before he saw the whole truth.

A few days after. King made his decision. “Ya. Basyar. I am now sure that you are the right man to continue this government. I can see! “King said. “I hope. Everything I do. Is merely because of Allah!” Basya was humble.

 

King Ilyasa was sure more than before that Basyar was the right man to replace him. “from now on, I give my authority to you!”King Ilyasa said as he gave his royal crown.

Basyar started to lead Bani Israil. For his sincerity in keeping his word. Basyar received a title Zulkifly, means a man who could keep a promise. He led his people justly and wisely. He really cared about his people and prosperity. 

One evening. Devil wanted to tet Basyar’s faith. Whether he was able to keep hi promise as king Ilayasa’s requirements. Devil was disguised as a man. Devil wanted to test Basyar’s patience and provoke him to get angry.

It’s late at night when people were slept. Including Basyar. “Knock….knock….knock…! Basyar’s room was knocked several times. Basyar woke up and tried to open door carefully. He saw a man standing in front of the door.

“What makes you come in the night like this? Basyar asked. “Forgive me, my lord. I have a problem that should be solved at once” devil answered. “Don’t you think it would be better to work out tomorrow morning or you can ask some help to my assistant?” Basyar said. “I want you. To solve my problem not anyone else!” devil tried to provoke Basyar to get angry.

“all right then. What’s your problem?” Basyar asked nicely. Devil was irritated with Basyar attitude. In fact he didn’t get angry. Basyar gave him some advices calmly and wisely. Being angry and irritated. Devil left. In left. In fact. Basyar was a man who kept the promise.

So. Zulkifly was indeed a little name. given by the society. Because he was able to keep his promise. Which was the mandate from king. The little of Zulkifly. Likewise prophet Muhammad saw. Entitled Al-Amin. Meaning trustable.

The prophet Zulkifly a.s son of the prophet Ayyub son of Amuse son of Tareckh son of Lihaq son of Prophet Ibrahim a.s. 

Prophet zulkifly a.s was still a descendant of the prophet. Id est. Prophet Ayyub a.s a Prophet and messenger known for his endurance. Basyar is a child born after the Prophet Ayyub a.s experienced severe test.

Unlike other prophets. Prophet Zulkifly a.s lived in an era when state power we held by a very wise king. Unfortunately. The king did not have a kid and aged.

Apparently. The king who ruled at that time was very devout. When he intended to deseed from his position as king. He wanted to hand over the power to someone else. He arranged a very street requirements.

In fact. The king made announcement to the public. “O, my people. Is there anyone of you who’s able to fast by day and praying at night? In addition. Always be patient when dealing problems. Then I will leave this kingdom to him.

No answered the king’s offer. Once again the king said. “Who are among you able to fast by day and praying at night and able to be patient?”

Unlike other times. When there is vacancy of position. People will complete and kill. They do not consider the position as the mandate that requires heavy responsibility. 

As it turned out. It was only Basyar son of Ayyub who agreed it. Whereas. The conditions were really tough. Because as a king he should fast during the day. Wake up at night. Keep thinking about the people and be patient.  

Prophet Zulkifly a.s was a patient prophet as the word of Allah. Inted. “Ismail. Idris. And Zulkifly were steadfast and we gave them all our Merely because of their patience.” Zulkifly then replaced the old king. At day time he fasted. But he never forgot the government’s affairs. Even he served his people well. At night. He spent it to worship Allah.

The mandate carried out by the prophet Zulkifly a.s was truly a heavy task. Never stop fasting. Night waking. Due to his position as king.

Usually would be selfish. Because of the power he has. His word usually become law. Regardless the law of God. Due to one little mistake. He could be outraged. Thus the ruler’s character in general.

The primeval kings had proven their tyrannies such as Namruz. Fira’un. Herodes and others. Only few were just and wise.

Not the ease with Basyar son of Ayyub. The characteristic of father decline was inherited to him. Thus he becomes very patient.

At one time. A group of people violated. They established strength to fight against the prophet Zulkifly’s power. Prophet Zulkifly a.s then immediately assembled his people to discuss the issue.

They said. “O king we were afraid to fight because we still want to live. If you ask Allah to guarantee our lives. Then we will be fighting.” Knowing this. Zulkifly prayed. “O Allah. I convey the message of you to them. Order them to war. But they asked a request. Truly Allah knows what they want.”

Not long after that. God lowered revelation: “O. Zulkifly. I (Allah) had heard they demanded and I heard your prayers. All of them I’ll grant. Prophet Zulkifly a.s was known as a very patient devout man. Allah’s word mean: “and remember Ismail. Ilayasa. And Zulkifly. All of the best men.”
